Beautiful Army Corps of engineer campground on the Mississippi River. The sunsets over the river are fantastic. Restrooms are modern and clean. Paved concrete camping pads. Only downside is the nearby railroad tracks which runs many trains. Bring your earplugs.

For the price is great especially if senior.

Very nice recreation area. 4 star, except that freight trains pass by at least 30 times per day-not exaggerating at all. The whistle blowing will drive you out of your skin it's so intense. The trains pass by at 10 past the hour, every hour, and some times as many 3 per hour. Nice place but the trains will be the experience you remember when you leave. If you are only visiting during the day it's probably ok, but if you are camping over night.......well, did I mention the trains.....

Beautiful view of Mississippi river. The down, next to rail road tracks. Corps of engineers keep the area so clean. Hot shower and running water in one bathroom the others are septic tanks.

It's been nearly 10 years since I camped here, but one place I'll never forget. I have fond memories of the trains. The rain came down heavy and the trains came through camp every 20 minutes. They would blow their horn for every crossing and far away on the west side of the Mississippi another train would answer. And now and then would come the lonely sound of a fog horn from a barge somewhere out on the dark river. It stirred me in such a way that I did not want to leave my fire to go to bed. When I finally did, I would wake for every whistle only to fall right back asleep. You either love it or hate it.

And I cannot forget the ranger and crew, they were outstanding. The programs for the kids were awesome. And I had a comfortable feeling that we were.being watched over by a good shepard.

Clean, really friendly staff, after the first night even the train running through 3x/night wasn't bad. The rhythm of it was actually nice. Would be nice if they didn't blow the horn when they come through the campground.
